First day of school. Today was my five year old’s first day back at school. She has now been attending a Montessori Children’s House for one whole year. She was very excited to go today, not just to see her friends but also her teachers. We left for school early this morning so there was time to play in the playground before hand. After dropping my daughter to her classroom, my son and I stayed back for another hour for more playground play as I don’t think he was quite ready to get back in the car for the ride home. We had fun though.
I spent the rest of the day at home with my son playing board games and card games and doing puzzles, some art (painting), Lego building and he helped me out with some cooking, loading the dishwasher and hanging washing on the line. We also did some weeding and watered the plants. We had a lovely day but both of us really missed my daughter. I am pleased to say that she had a really great day. We picked her up from the school in the afternoon and she was so excited to tell me about everything she did that day. Funny enough, we stayed back again for a playground play as some of my daughter’s friends stayed as well to play.
Our house move. We have one more day until we move house (we pick up the keys tomorrow). We have been as I have called it ‘camping out’ for a while now. Basically everything has been boxed up and all our clothes and personal items are in a suitcase. My children have been sleeping on their floor beds as we took apart their bed frames to make it easier for the move. We are getting some help moving the larger items and borrowed a trailer and are moving what we can ourselves. I look at this picture (excuse the poor quality) and have fond memories of both of my children sleeping just like this when they were little. Luckily there has been so much excitement around moving house, my children have not minded the changes centred around it. I thought maybe the timing of it wouldn’t have been so good as it’s the first week back at school, but it doesn’t seem to bother anyone so far.
If I haven’t already mentioned we are moving from a small house with a grassed backyard into a smaller town house with no backyard. We are renting again. The bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs and there is an open plan living/dining space downstairs.
I guess the biggest change at this point for us is loosing the backyard and there will be no parks in walking distance any more. At the end of the day, we have a roof over our heads, so I feel blessed and am excited about the change.
I hope you have had a lovely day!
