Gratitude today for time at my parents place, a slow afternoon and simple eating. I picked up my daughter early from school today and we went to my parents place for lunch and an afternoon play. My children adore their Grandparents and love spending time with them. We try to do this often. We ended up staying longer than planned and both of my children fell asleep on the way home exhausted from all the fun.
My parents have this gorgeous doll house which they let my children play with when they visit. It is full of delicate items, some made from china and glass. I ended up needing to help as this doll house has a lot of tiny pieces. My youngest just wanted to take all the pieces out and then put them back in, whereas my eldest wanted each item to go in the right room, in the right place but she became overwhelmed in the end. My mum ended up putting some of the pieces away so there wasn’t so many items out at the one time .
Once we got home we got out some of our freezer ice blocks and sat outside. The rest of the afternoon was playing with some boxes and blocks, some bike/scooter riding and a quick swim.
Building with boxes. We still have lots of boxes left over from our move, so they are getting lots of use in my children’s play.
Knowing that we may possibly get home late and I would be in a rush to make dinner, I grabbed some of last weeks left over vegetable and red lentil soup from the freezer this morning and left it to thaw out in the fridge ready for dinner. We don’t have a microwave so we re-heat our soup in a saucepan on the stove top. Both of my children love soup now, they didn’t always like it.
